Finance
Reaching into all aspects of our activity, a strong and engaged finance function is critical to the success of the RCN. Our finance staff cover everything from ensuring budgets are used to best effect, to enabling an efficient workflow in processing financial transactions, to safeguarding resources within a secure but enabling control environment.
Protecting our financial wellbeing
Our ethos is to work in partnership with the individual directorates of the RCN, to understand their needs and provide effective and informative support.
We employ a range of qualified and part-qualified accountants, specialists in payroll and accounts payable/receivable, as well as all-rounders. The department is busy, dynamic and flexible to meet the changing needs of the RCN and its membership.
As a member of our department you may be involved in invoicing, banking, income processing, payroll, or making payments including invoices, staff and member expenses. You will play an important role in promoting the protection of the organisation’s financial wellbeing through the production of management accounts, budgets and forecasts; and safeguard its assets through a strong control framework and appropriate investment and treasury management.
We provide a full accounting service to the RCN’s charity: the RCN Foundation, and the financial transaction processing function for our subsidary company RCNi. We also provide the group accounting function for the RCN Group.
In addition, we ensure the RCN meets its reporting and statutory duties of maintaining proper accounting records; undergoing statutory annual audits; providing information to the membership and other stakeholders; fulfilling tax requirements; and complying with all applicable legislation and regulation. Our work is incredibly varied, so we can offer you opportunities wherever you are in your financial career.
Why apply?
Working in the RCN’s Finance department is both rewarding and challenging. Given the diverse nature of the RCN, it provides opportunities to develop accounting knowledge and experience as well as the chance to develop other skills such as project working, presentation skills and training, and development facilitation.
